COVID-19 Compliance Challenges (Global)
This course provides an overview of compliance challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and highlights the importance of compliance vigilance during the crisis.
Region: Global | Duration: 10 minutes
Summary
In December 2019, a novel coronavirus was identified in Wuhan, China. The coronavirus disease—also known as COVID-19—commonly includes pneumonia, fever, fatigue, cough, and other respiratory systems. The estimated mortality rate has varied as the disease has spread, but even at the low end, experts estimate that COVID-19 is about 10 times more deadly than the seasonal flu. Persons over the age of 50 are at particular risk.
The COVID-19 crisis has caused tremendous upheavals in the business world. Demand for some products and services has withered away. Workers in all market sectors are working from home. Governments have imposed restrictions on how many people may gather together at once and, in many cases, issued directives that prohibit travel for any reason. The global financial markets have been predictably unpredictable, but securities overall have sustained tremendous losses.
