White paper

Don’t want to become a “ChatGPT lawyer”?

Make sure you’re using professional-grade AI

AI tools have quickly become commonplace in the legal field, with some firms quickly embracing their use while others are more reticent. Your firm can't sit out this change; your clients are already demanding their use.

The savings a law firm can achieve with generative AI (GenAI) are vast. According to the Thomson Reuters Future of Professionals Report, legal professionals estimate GenAI will save them about 12 hours per week within the next five years. That’s 200 hours a year — the equivalent of adding one team member for every 10 employees. The potential return on investment is equally alluring, with an estimated $100,000 in additional billable hours per year for a U.S. lawyer.

However, not all GenAI is created equal — potential savings and efficiency improvements will greatly depend on the type of AI you choose.

Public AI, like ChatGPT, is often competent enough for general use. But there’s a good reason why public, consumer-grade products are free while law firms pay to access proprietary resources like Westlaw.

Read this white paper to learn the differences between consumer-class and professional-grade AI tools and how to make the right choice for your firm.
