Return policies for vendors

West Publishing Corporation (West) product that is adopted as text (such as Minnesota State Court Rules, California Probate Code, Georgia Law Enforcement Handbook, Handling a Criminal Case in New York, Texas Family Code, etc.): Current editions of texts may be returned within the earlier of six months of purchase or three months of release of a new edition. Books returned outside this time frame will be recycled or discarded by West without notification, and no credit will be issued.
Dictionaries: Current editions of dictionaries may be returned within the earlier of 36 months of purchase or three months of release of a new edition. Dictionaries returned outside this time frame will be recycled or discarded by West without notification, and no credit will be issued.
Condition of books/products returned: All titles received must be returned in undamaged and resalable condition, transportation prepaid. If returns are received in damaged condition, no credit will be given.
We are unable to accept returns containing: Price and ISBN stickers; stampings; highlighting; inserted advertising materials; torn, worn, damaged covers or pages; attached security devices; or products that are otherwise altered or defaced.
Documentation required for a return: Returns for credit must be accompanied by a copy of the original invoice, packing slip, or chargeback invoice. If using a chargeback invoice, you must include the following: author, title, quantity, ISBN, West invoice number, invoice date, and original invoice pricing. Proof of Purchase is required, and no returns will be accepted for credit from any customer who has not purchased directly from West. Please make a notation on all return paperwork when returning superseded editions.
Return of damaged, defective, mis-shipped books or short-shipped claims: If you should receive damaged or mis-shipped books from West, you must call Customer Service (1-800-328-2209) or email west.bookstore@thomsonreuters.com within 30 days of receipt of the order to receive a preauthorization letter.
Preauthorization of returns/preapproval of chargebacks: West reserves the right to require preauthorization for returns/preapproval for chargebacks if, in its sole determination, it believes a reseller or bookstore is not complying with or is abusing this return policy. Upon notice from West:
Future returns must be preauthorized by contacting Customer Service at 1-800-328-2209.
Returns for credit must be accompanied by a preapproved file, including author, title, quantity, invoice number, invoice date, and price.
Any product returned without preauthorization will be immediately recycled or discarded by West. West has no obligation to either notify you prior to any disposal or return any product regardless of dollar value or quantity. You will not receive a credit for unauthorized returns, and you will be responsible for paying any remaining balance due on your account for any returned product.

Failure to follow the above West Publishing Corporation return policy could lead to restocking fees, preauthorization of returns, restricted returns, or no return privileges. This policy is subject to change without notification. May 2016.
